How do I pull off the stock clutch cables part that bolts to the firewall to replace it with my steeda firewall adjuster?

I obviously tried just pulling it off the end of the cable but the rubber bushing part just flexes and there is a middle plastic part with 4 "teeth" at the end of it that bite into the rubber bushing not letting it be pulled over.

what the?

yes I'm an idiot, but I dont have any instructions [Confused]

You have to trim off the 4 plastic tabs. [Cool]

man I never want to put a new clutch cable onto my car by myself ever again.

3ft prybar to pull the clutchfork to hook the clutch nub thing onto the fork while on my back with the car on jackstands is not my idea of fun.


on a side note, now when I push the clutch all the way to the floor at about 1/4" from the floor I hear and feel a little crunch. I think it may be the firewall adjuster flexing as it is only mounted with one little screw to the firewall?

do you still have the stock plastic quadrant or was that replaced with the metal stuff when you put the firewall adjuster in? if the plastic stuff is still there i'd say thats the first place i would check for the sound.
when i put one on my 85 GT it was pretty simple with no prybar needed, I worry that you may have damaged something using one.

I have a metal single hook non-adjustable clutch quadrent as well. I had the firewall adjuster turned all the way into the firewall.

the throw-out bearing requires constant pressure on it, so it is perfectly normal to have to use a pry-bar to get the clutch cable in place.
