I'd build a 331 with a custom cam, around 9:1 compression, 42lb injectors, and use the rpm II intake

Well- The NOVI 2000 can produce mucho boost/flow. If you want to really get into 14psi or more then Dart or other aftermarket block will be a must.

9 to 1 isnt too much compression depending on how much boost you want to make, it will keep it from being a slug when your not in the boost. Like fasterdamnit said, if you plan more than 15 psi you should go with an aftermarket block unless you want to see all of your expensive internals all over the oil pan or what not, and girdle wont do anything except give you a place to begin looking for pieces of your crank in the case the block does split. you should look into an a4 or dart block or something like that. Going fast is expensive and if you want to save yourself some trouble now you better get the stronger block. And theres not going to be any need for you to spray, even at the track with 15lbs of boost edit- yes you should definately o ring the block [ November 13, 2004, 05:42 PM: Message edited by: AJBlackGT ]

a 351w block (69-72) would be a nice step up from a thin-wall late model hydraulic roller 302, should handle around 650 rwhp safely, I'd personally go for about 8.5:1 compression for CA gas and your novi 2k.
otherwise you could make a stout 500 rwhp on a stock late-model 302 roller and amuse us all by posting the pictures of the block when you crack it
or drop the change for a B50/A4/Dart 302 block

An R302 is perfect, I am using one with my NOVI 2000, if you plan on more power I would run a Dart Block.

dart, dart sportsman, windsor r, a4, and r302 will all support over 1200hp so any of them will do for this guy
