its a '87 and the car only starts sputtering like it needs fuel or something. It ONLY happens when making a right, NEVER when making a left. The car will basically go down rpm and the whole car will start to jerk. Seems to be fuel related usually only happens when under 1/2 tank. Anybody help? The car is a democrat and is protesting the conservative right's recent election win. Give it time to heal.

I had the same problem with my 87. The problem with mine was the baffle in the tank that holds the fuel from moving around when cornering was lose so when i went to turn right all the fuel went left starving the fuel pump. i fixed that by getting used tank at a junkyard for about $40.......

Ignition switch. It's shorting inside the steering column on right turns.

Oh I forgot to say...it only sputters comming out of the turn never in the turn. So say I'm getting on the freeway since most on ramps are right turns, It will sometimes slow down to 15-25mph merging on the freeway because I have no throttle.

Well I got the car home today...I went over to the car trying to figure out a way to get it started..So i took out the battery to just check and see if its dead, so I brought it to kragen and if came up as a good battery. Then I went back to my car put the battery in and all the lights turned on, so I turned the key and it started right up?..guess it was just a loose connection on the battery.

Why does it only do it when the tank is low on gas? Thanks for the help! Jayson

this is most likely the culprit, I saw many of these in my days as a driveability tech. Did anyone listen to what he said. He said only when the tank is 1/2 full or less. Please read before posting next time.
