My Mustang is making a lot of noise around the intake. A lot of rattling almost sounds like marbles in there. Sounds like its coming from the Fuel Pressure Regulator kind of but i am not sure. Its a BBK.
Is this noise common or am i not trippin? i know my 5.0 in my Jeep doesn't do any noise like this. [Eek!]

Oh also a couple of days ago i was sitting at a light and all of a sudden a huge cloud of black smoke came out of the engine bay. All the guages stayed the same and the idle stayed in the same place so i have no idea what it was. Drives good, but seems like its missing or i have a broken engine mount cause it shakjes a lot when idling. Oil was a little low but not enough to make any noises. [Confused]

No marbles sounds coming from my engine bay... There was while back and it turned out that a header bolt fell out. Nothing since then though.

Its only noticeable when the hood is open. Today though coming home from school i noticed a hairdry sound but i noticed my power steering doesn't have long to live so that could have been that noise.

Does it go away when you press the clutch?

Mine has a similar ting. It goes away when I shift.

You said it's comming from around by your FPR?...Make sure the smog pipe on the back of the head isn't loose...It just bolts on and that could also explain your puff of smoke...

I have heard a 94/95 make this noise before. It wasn't my car so I didn't look into it, but try disconnecting the EGR when it is making the sound and see if it goes away. The sounds that I was hearing would come and go, like something was being turned on and then off by the EEC. Also you may check into the idle control motor. Good luck
