Whats up Guys,
14" Rotors, 4 piston calipers, Baer, Brembo, Alcon, Power Slot, Stop Tech, slotted/drilled? etc for my 98 cobra ...
let me hear your opinions, experiences, concerns or issues about the products.

Check out Alcon's Six piston calipers and slotted rotors through baer racing. StopTech's big brake kit is tough to beat for the money though I don't think they offer a matching rear kit if that matters. When it comes to top of the line race items I would sway towards the high end alcons over the StopTech's because they are a proven winner in all racing venue's. doesnt baer have a 12 piston front caliper know with individual brake pads per caliper

I haven't heard of a 12 piston caliper? Here's a shot of the 6 piston ones. I'd get them without the cross drilling but with the slots.

It all comes down to how much money you have. You know the PBR Cobra Calipers are actually good calipers. If you combo those with a good set of rotors and pads they can feel down right amazing for the value. I would suggest a hawk brake pad, if you are looking to compensate some stopping distance, for low dust and noise than just a hps pad will do, but for street if you don't mind a little more cleaning and noise, than the hp+ I would go with. Like others said stick woit slotted only rotors. Drilled are known to crack. I would also suggest going stainless lines, Russell makes some nice kits for your car. Also If you want to help your factory rear calipers, they make whats called an anti-moan bracket for them. It bolts between the back of the caliper, and the axle housing to add better bracing, which is needed on the rear brakes to reduce the amount of flex the caliper has under braking.
Just a few ideas to think about since no real reason of why you want to upgrade, or how much money you plan to spend was asked. If you are going show, and got $$$$ do those kits reccomended above, but if you just want realistic better braking, there's a few ideas.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will look into those setups. I am definitely going with slotted rotors, 4 or 6 piston calipers, and stainless brake lines.
1SicGT, I don't really have a budget, I just want a braking setup that is worth the money. I don't necessarily want the most expensive components, just the best. And we all know that the most $$$ doesn't always mean the best.
In other words, if I can get the same performance out of an $1900 kit as a $2500 kit, then of course I would get the cheaper one. However if there is a justifiable difference in the $600, then I have no problem forking over the cash.
I probably won't be entering any shows, and I don't want just good braking, I want incredible braking.

okay I heard from a guy in SanDiego who just works on fords and he said stay clear of six piston calipers because after prolong use on the streets which consist of alot of stop and go the rotors will warp no matter if they are Baer or Brembo. Four piston is the max for street and is good for track and strip. This is why many manufactuers only go four piston calipers only like the 350z or wrx sti etc....with the optional Brembo package. Then again the jags and benzs, plus porsche go with six piston up front.

How does Wilwood's 6 piston setup compare with Baers? It's about 1/3 the price

Check www.discbrakesrus.com, I got mine from them and quite happy about it! It came up to about only $1000 for sloted/drilled silver powder coated rotors, calipers, steel lines, for all 4 wheels! And you can choose the color of caliper and text on it (saleen, cobra...)

i got the brembo 4 piston 13 inch setup on my 96 cobra. That thing stops on a dime and i think the kit is only 1,100.

do any of u guys kno how much a conversion kit to disc all the way around for a fox body would be? i have a 93 n was thinking about upgrading my breaking system aswell

The only problem with putting big brakes on a fox is they tend to lock up without any abs, but a good driver does not need abs to stop a vehicle trust me on that. But Baer has an excellent conversion for fox bodys with the five lug conversion and 31 splines for the rear. I think the price is around $1800, not bad for all you get it is all there to convert your car to a five lug and awesome braking power, plus it looks kick ass when you see them through some cobra wheels makes your car look exotic really stands out from the crowd.
