Why not goto a Junk yard and snatch some SN95 axles? And swap on new brakes?

would this be just as effective as buying a whole new conversion kit?

SN95 axles are 5 lug...Are you planning on getting new 5 lug wheels too or staying with the stock 4 lug?....
I installed a 4 lug SSBC (stainless steel brake company) rear disc conversion on my first Mustang and it worked out really nice...

Is the swap really worth it? A buddy of mine, told me that it may be stronger?

If you want to do 5 lug, pull the spindles and rear axles/complete rear end off of a 94+ car. All you'll need is a new MC and a 3-2 port conversion kit (sold through maximummotorsports.com) and get it all on. The car will be all fucked up, so you'll need an alignment for shizzle. Here's a great link about different types of brake swaps:

Having 4 wheel disc brakes are good all around. But beware if the rears lock-up on rainy days. That's what I heard. So be careful.
