my check engine light recently came on. it comes and goes while i'm driving. i brought my car to a mechanic and he couldn't find the problem. without any info, is there any common problems the light might come on for that i can check?

You need to check the codes stored in the computer. Take it to Autozone, they will do it for free. Second, find a new mechanic...you current one obviously doesn't know what he's doing.

I'm not sure if autozone still does that service for free, but you can buy a simple scanner(it is cheap that can get your codes) or you can use the paperclip method that works too
Can I take a guess....it is your 02 sensors....??? Let me know if I am right....

I don't think Autozone does that anymore. However, the scanner is pretty cheap.
It may also be the EVP or the EGR. You'll know after you run the test though. Good luck.

autozone still does it for free, but the light has to be on when they do it--by the way I was talking to one autozone guy about readin my Kia and he said "all codes are the same"
