So as many of you have read my rearend took a dump. The pinion gear got a couple teeth knocked loose. Dude's gonna take care of me . He's gonna buy me new gears, and all labor for FRIZEE! Yea So I decided to upgrade somethings...
My question is, what's the difference between, auburn, and eaton posi's, and then a detroit locker? He said he would buy the gears, and axels+ detroit locker would run about (ballpark) $700.
Any reason why I should go with an eaton instead? He said he wouldn't recommend and auburn...

stick to your stock posi with a rebuild strong as an eaton might not last as long but you can rebuild it 3 times before costing the same as an eaton.
auburns suck not rebuildable, eatons good but expensive, detriot are you insane man LOL.

the easton is great, i have one in the cobra, always has worked flawless
unless ur running 10's in a 3700 vert ur not gonna break it, ask the brain about his, it lasted for quite a while with A LOT of abuse

the detroit provides ultimate traction with the ablility to disengage for turning, most of the time at least. It is louder than most, but it is the ultimate street diff, the only thing better is a spool

I have a couple of questions myself. My 'notch will be rarely on the street/rain.
I want to go Spool + 31-spline + Disc Brakes. What else would I need? C-Clip eliminators? New studs?
It eventually will be doing 12s - hopefully.

WTF? Why the hell would you want a spool? Is the car going to be trailered? I doubt if you are only going to run 12's. Spools suck on the street, tires wear fast, your handling goes to shit (NEVER get into the throttle while you are in a turn) and you can break an axle- worst case. Both Rhett and myself are into the 11's on a built Trac-loc.
Eric will need one because his bastardized coupe should be lo 9's capable- or better.

Also c clips???? Why not bolt in axles? If your already being cheap on getting a spool use the saved money for bolt in axles.

Well I have no experience with rear ends, but I don't want to get my trac-loc rebuilt repeatedly. I am still looking around at Eaton, Auburn, etc.
I know the disadvantages of a spool, I'm not road-racing, and I'll get any setup that can hook for the cheapest AND be durable. It's not going to be trailered.
I didn't know about "bolt in axles". Thanks for the info.
