Hi all,
Well, my Cobra rear-brake upgrade on my '98 Saleen is not going well so far. I got the new "anti-moan" brackets, that bolt between the axle flange and the diff - but with them bolted on, the parking brake cables would not mount onto the Calipers. So, I took off the brackets, and will return them.
Then, more serious, I put on the new banjo bolt (with copper washers int he right place), and started to tighten with my brand-new micrometer style torque wrench. The wrench was set too 44 ft-lbs (the Haynes manual specifies 30 to 44, and as always I set for the highest torque) - snap! Sheared the banjo bolt, well before reaching the desired torque! I set the other side to 35 and tightened it to that, and it seems OK, but it makes me pretty nervoes (and kinda pissed!!)
Was the torque figure in the manual wrong, or did I get a defective banjo bolt?
Chris.
