For what it's worth, we recently built a 10.3 to 1 compression N/A 2V motor (on this site) using Patriot stage 2 heads (with the correct valvestem guides & seals) & off-shelf Comp 270 cams. With longtubes & most of the other bolt-ons w/a stock intake it put down 311/311RW. This is far from a matched combo, but it did put down some pretty nice power. More then I've seen from any other N/A 2V around. Regrinds aren't the best for N/A power IMO. They are excessively lazy off the seat & require valvetrain shims to get the correct valvetrain geometry. Get this geometry wrong & power/drivability will suffer (bigtime!). Another potential problem is the stock 3-groove valvelocks. They butt together & are designed to spin the valves. This is fine for stock springs, but put in anything with significantly more pressure & you'll either break valvesprings or drop a valve.

Well I've been present for many HCI combo's on the dyno and was always impressed with the outcome for the most part. We just got our first car in the shop yesterday from Big Boy racing with their cams, ported heads and an S- trim. We'll see what the outcome is when it is ready for a tune.
