The regular A,C, & D code 289's all had cast cranks. The K code 289's had Nodular cranks. I don't recall ever seeing a K code Galaxy or ever hearing of one though. The only steel small block cranks were out of a Boss 302. [ July 20, 2004, 01:49 PM: Message edited by: wilit ]

Hey, on the same subject- what's the redline for a stock 289 from a 66 Mustang? [ July 20, 2004, 06:33 PM: Message edited by: Wolf ]

Low I believe. The non-K code GT's with the Rally Pacs came with the 6k tach, the K codes came with the 8k tach. But the tachs themselves don't have any "redline" on them.

For some reason the older motors can't red line as easy as the 5.0 5500 rpm is what I'd push them at but you'll be making no power after 3500 rpm with the stock equipment.

I have a dissasembled 72 302 if interested. I was keeping it for a 347 project since older blocks are stronger but no plans for using it any time soon anyways.
