DO COLD AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS REALLY WORK? I'VE HEARD THAT THEY CAN ADD UP TO 8-12 HORSEPOWER BUT I'VE ALSO HEARD THAT THEY DON'T DO MUCH. I WANT TO GET SOME OF YOU GUYS OPINION ON THEM BEFORE I GO OUT AND SPEND $150 JUST TO GAIN AN ADDITIONAL 3 HORSEPOWER.

I have a shit load of parts you may be intersted in.
headers, pulleys, maf's, injectors, tb's, shifters, nitrous, supercharger, cold air, motors, aluminum heads, intake, cars. Everything has to go.
I'm moving on to other things.
As soon as I get everything organized I'm going to post a big for sale add. It's at all at a buddies shop or in storage so I need to work around peoples schedules. Which in turn takes time away from being able to get it over with fast. [ July 20, 2004, 10:47 AM: Message edited by: Fostang ]

Um, damn you.... for making an excellent point.
I have a CAI on my gt, and it looks pretty and all, but it didnt offer any noticeable gains until I put the BBk sticker on the car, then I got +25rwhp j/k
You can hear the engine breathing with a CAI big time. I like it tho, the louder, the better

I've heard that it doesn't do much of anything cuz it doesn't change where the air is coming from. the only benefeit is the smooth tube replacing the ribbed stocker. of course it looks better than stock tho http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2002/03/coldair/ [ July 20, 2004, 06:22 PM: Message edited by: zpyro35 ]

Cold air kits don't add that much to the earlier year cars though there is some difference in power. Tops I say would be 8-10 horsepower. If your talking on an '03 cobra thats a different story as putting one on a bone stock '03 will gain 20 rear wheel horsepower as I've tested many on the dyno seeing those results

I think it depends. I have a 62 falcon with a 427 and holley FI which allows me to read air temp. With headers my underhood air intake was reading 138 degrees. Probably this is impoved on the later mustangs. Cold air DOES make a difference but whether the kit you are talking about is a design that can make an improvement is another matter. At any rate on my 63 I'm adapting an 85 H.O. intake to utilize cold air from air rams I'm building which should give a slight boost of a lb or so at 65 mph.
