my car passed smog. on paper it looks like a good running car, but it lacks power. it feels like it has a flat spotfrom 3500-4200 rpm. any ideas what the problem is?

when was the last time you gave it a full tune-up?
cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, pcv, air filter...
also if the car is an automatic with stock rear gears, they pretty much drive like a slug. only way to remedy that is with a shift kit and 4:10 gears, at least IMO

yeah dude, do a tune up. that helps out more than you would think. I even took apart my maf and cleaned it really well... then the car felt like I had woken it up from a long nap, she was ready to play!

i changed the cap, rotor, sparkplug wires and plugs, fuel filter, and converted my automatic to a stick.
