I was told that you can not recharge a optima battery,Is that true? Does anyone know.Because I have the yellow top one and The car was sittting for about a month without someone turning the car on.I cant get it to charge,Ive jumped it a couple of times and it wont stay charged,Its a dumb question but I just want to know before I go out to buy another one.LMK Thanks

It all depends on what kind of charger you use. Oddesey batteries say that the charger should be between 14 and 15 volts on output, and they have a specific time and amperage for charging. See if Optima has a website with that kind of information.

i had the red top optima and the only way I could get mine to charge is at 12 A 12V on the charger. I had to let it sit half a day. But definetly have the battery checked out because they are not meant to be recharged multiple times. On the 3rd recharge my battery started leaking acid and fumes came out. Good thing sears will exchange anything.
