Im looking for opinions on what you guys think of this. Are there any major pain in the asses involved with this. I'm sure I could do the work no doubt. But will I still be able to run at the track and is this kinda ricer style?
Basically looking for reasons why I should/shouldn't do it. Let me know what you think. This would be on an 87 saleen by the way.

first off you can shave your drivers side door handles and be track legal. id just shave the doors locks if anything. another con of shaving them if that you have to place a manuel door popping button under your car in case your battery dies and a good theif will probably find it.

This is something that was being done long before there was such thing as ricer style. The only con is that you won't be able to run at the track.

I think deleting the antenna on the fenderwell looks clean as hell, but then you dont have a antenna, but i dont have a stereo so what does it matter

Shaving emblems and antennas are cool but when you have shaved door handles it gets annoying as hell after a while. Just think, now you have to replace door poppers as well as actuators. More shit to worry about and replace in my opinion. I would leave it as is.

Uhhhh! No there not. Saleen side skirts are way different than cobra side skirts. I would go with shaved door handle to give it that nice streamline look. it will look great !! [ June 01, 2004, 09:20 AM: Message edited by: 1992gtdrop ]

hidnnos: I hate to do this because you are pretty knowledgable when it comes to fox's but you are slightly wrong. The Saleen sideskirts ARE different from the 93 cobra sideskirts.
look at these:
and then these:
SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT but still different. That is why 87 Saleen said "better than the cobra skirts... "
They sure are close though.

Ahhhh, being that the Saleens start out as LX's, the Saleen skirts are only the long U shaped one pieces that fit under the molding with the small stripe on the fender that is ALREADY there. The Cobra skirts are one piece with the large stipe attached, not already on the fenders.
I've got it

Do it man. It looks hella clean. I got a coupe in the shop getting painted right now and its got shaved everything door handles/ locks, trunk lock, antenna. If you do it you have to do it right. I have a couple of friends that saw what I was doing to my car and went out and had there car shaved in a hurry and totally fucked it up. I'm talked the doors weren't flat, and they didn't even install door popers. They would just roll down there windows with there alarm and reach inn to open the door. If you do it go with a company called auto lock. They have a nice web site to check out there shit. And when your ready to buy go on e bay because you can get the same auto lock kits for half the price. I did my homework before I did mine. Good luck
