I have a 5.0 and I have a clicking noise that is driving me crazy. It only makes the noise when I am driving. It doesn't make the noise when parked and I am reving the engine. I thought it was an exhaust leak but I had it checked out and that wasn't it. I just had a flush done because I was told it might be build up on the lifters but it still makes the noise. I still think it might be the lifters but the only way to find out is to have someone go into the engine. I also have had the header bolts replaced. Could this be anything else? Oh by the way I have an Explorer.

Hmm Which way did he go

Well I know alot of them had a problem with the exhaust manifold bolts working there way out. So you might want to look at that. I have done that and I want somebody to open the engine up and find what it is.

what kind of tick? does it do it all the time? my old explorer would tick when the temp controls were on defrost or ac. Put them on floor. Also it would just make a slight ticking noise all the time. I think it was just part of its M.O
