`96 and later vehicals need OEM cats.
I found that out the hard way when the stock cat plugged on my truck, which is a `97. I went to no less than 5 muffler shops with an aftermarket cat to get welded in replacement, and they wouldn't touch it, said OEM or kiss off basically.

If the cats are faulty you can replace them with any cat you want... [ April 17, 2004, 09:28 AM: Message edited by: Black94 5.0 ]

Rob's right, California law states that the cats are replacable if not functional or after 50K or 75K miles, doesn't matter what car or truck or brand of cat as long as it is epa legal which most, if not all, are, good luck.

I've had success using the CarSound CARB/EO certified dual CAT systems by Magnaflow. They come with EO numbers which is all the smog shop needs to pass it. Recently had a 95 GT pass with just the dual hi-flow CarSound CATS instead of the OEM 4-CAT setup. The website is: www.car-sound.com Go to: PRODUCT->UNIVERSAL FIT->CALIFORNIA COMPLIANT Ask for the EO number if you get these CATs. Good luck! Ray
