i just got this car and its been perfect then all the sudden its pinging or making like a loud rattling noise when i hit the gas and its comming from like under the motor in the header area. its not the exhuast or header though. its only after i hit the gas past 3000 rpm and its LOUD! any suggestions siince i checked out the exhuast and all that stuff.

Great job w/ all those details you provided. Have you done a recent tune up? Is there oil in the engine? If your car is newer than 1989, is the air meter connected? Do you get a check engine light?

Oh and don't get on the throttle till you figure out whats happening. Could be pinging or something alone those lines

I have the same problem except its at higher RPMs. My Jeep used to do it too.
Let me know if you ever figure out what it is.
