When you changed your oil and the filter wasn't full what was the oil level like prior to the oil change? This is odd for such a new motor. What type of oil pan are you running? On my ex's Jetta 2.0 that was about the average oil consumption. On my current mustang, at first it was burning a bit of oil, but now it doesn't seem to burn any. Stock motors burn oil. Did the owner beat on it for the first 10,000 miles, though? Anyway, I also use a quart every 1,000 miles, but my bottom end has 125,000 miles on it. You might have a Head gasket Issue.
