I have BFG 245/40-18 DRs on my 94 convertible w/aode...
I'll be going to the track with them for the first time this weekend. Should I lower them down to about 18psi and heat em up really good for the best launch?
I was trying to launch with them on the street to see if they would hook without dropping the pressure or heating them up and they were getting roasted pretty bad.
I want to make sure I get the best possible 60' times this time around.
Thanks...

When you go to the track don't drive through the water box and don't back in it either..Keep the tires dry and do a long burn out...
I've never run any BFG DR's at the track...I did run Nitto's and had the best results on my Nitto's with 15-16psi and long long burn outs..
EDIT: I can move this topic to the "Drag section" if you would like....Hopefully Drew and some other Drag racing Pro's will post... [ March 02, 2004, 09:13 PM: Message edited by: Black94 5.0 ]

OK Sounds good...
I thought that if the tires weren't a little wet, my rear end could possibly do the one tire spin though.

you don't have to back all the way in, but you can back up a little to were the other cars have pulled water out of the box. Thats what I have learnd to do. My best 60ft with DR's was with a small burnout, just my two cents. test it out, see what works better long ones or short ones or medium ones. if you are running the same 60ft on all three then do the small ones cause the tires will last longer.

since you have an 18 inch rim, i have heard that 18 psi is too low, and a few people recommend around 23..
ur best bet would to get a junk set of 15's so that way u can drop the bfg's to 16'psi and have alotta tire wall flex... then u will see some nice 60 ft times.
i would be suprised if u hit anything under a 2.1 on 18's

Second gear burnout until they are smoking a cloud not just a little smoke. this will heat them up properly and you'll get your 60ft. This is the advice 93Pony gave Peninsula302 at the tack between runs and the 60 ft dropped and so did the ET. I believe 2 tenths off the 60 ft

Thank you...
Did those guys mention the psi for the DRs.
I know since I have 18s, the won't be much tire wrinkle so I'll try em out at 23ps1 first and then lower them as needed.
