You could do it with iron GT40's, I'd port them a little too...I would recommend an Edelbrock Performer intake, rather than the typhoon "wanna be" intake...I would use a nice CompCam with some 1.6 rr's too...
I managed 254rwhp and 301rwtq with stock un-ported heads and a stock cam....

If it's going to be run on the street I'd go with AFR 165 heads E-303 cam and cobra upper and lower intake. With shorty headers this will make the numbers you want. If you need help installing any of this let me know. Good Luck

I believe HungryHippo on this site made 270 something RWHP with stock E7 heads, cobra intake, longtubes, & a 2031 cam (retarded ) with 1.7 rockers.
Any aluminum head/mild cam/aftermarket intake combo should get you to your goals.

If you want to go mid 12's, get a LS1 and buy some DR's. Other than that, you'll end up tweak'n more and more than what you've already done. Don't get me wrong, the Fox body is your best Bang for buck. Just not gonna go mid 12's on a Bone-Stock, fully loaded set up. [ February 25, 2004, 12:23 PM: Message edited by: Joel Villarreal ]

LS1 + DR = Broken 10 bolt....lol
A simple 5.0 H/C/I swap and you can run 12's ALL DAY LONG!.....

i made 274hp with a cobra intake, 2031 cam degreed by 93pony, home ported E7's, shorty headers, and every bolt on. all i did to the heads was port the exhaust, smooth out the bowls, and mill the heads .020". i should have ported the exhaust more and opened up the intake a little but i didnt have the long carbide bits. oh well, i have afr's now

You can have all the parts in the world and still run a 14 if you can't drive worth shit.
Let us know how much money you got, and then we can give you a good estimation of what parts can make you go fastest.
If all you have is a couple hundred bucks, then by all means go nitrous. If you have a grand or so, go h/c/i. Remember, you can piece this together slowly if you want, you don't have to get it all at once. If you want to build a good basis for a daily driver that you will have for a while, go the h/c/i route and just piece it together. If you just want a quick boost and dont have long term plans for the car, get a quick 75-100 dry shot of nitrous.

I was thinking of piecing it together because my engine has almost 150k so im thinking it will be on its way in about 50k so i dont want to get parts i will end up replacing when i get my engine built. I was also thinking about building the car around the engine like the suspension first. Then just save my money for the better engine parts later.

EXACTLY!
Keep in mind, you can add all the power you want, but you have to be able to get it to the ground too.

Well I paid 10K for my 98 LS1 and went 13.3 with 18 vette wheels, plus the LS6 intake and free mods. I ran a 2.1 60ft and had a 1/4mile 108mph. I thought that wasn't too bad. YOu can pay as low as $8K for a 98 now and throw a H/C/I on in and get to the 11's if you know how to drive it. If you don't want to spend that much and not to great at ripp'n gears, then find a LT1-auto for $4-6K then do a H/C/I and run high 11's too.
I like Chevy's, I like Fords. hell i even like some Dodges. But i like fast cars most of all and have Respect for HP. The LS1 comment was just my .02. And from my experience, getting a really fast, guttend, fox-body to hook-up isn't all that easy.

Actually, you don't have to gut it and lo 1.6's are not that hard to do. Put 90/10's in front w/ drag springs, rear control arms, welded up torque boxes and slicks. The stock axles may or may not handle it.

this car is on stock heads and intake...it runs 12.79@ 107mph on motor...theres less than 6,000 invested in the car and thats including the car, witch he paid 3,000 for the car...the run below was on a 100 shot...
