i blew a rod in my 2000 GT. Is it worth it to fix or should i try and buy a whole new motor? How much would I be looking to spend? Anyone got any suggestions?!?! Anyone got a cobra motor or GT motor for sale?

Hey man, welcome to the club , i killed my 01 motor also,.. i yanked the motor and bought a new longblock,.. and haven that one built up. If ur on a budget, u can go through Stangparts.com,... they have used 99+ longblock 4.6L's for around 1750 + tax & shipping,.. or there was a guy on here selling an 01 longblock for like 2k... I personally would just have one built, i think we all know how these 4.6L rods& pistons are..WEAK as shit! .. me and buddys have all found out ... ur call, goodluck.. if u need anymore advice let me know..

um after purchasing the L/B and cams so far 2930..and i still have to get the flywheel, clutch, and headers,.. but thats lil shit..
Id recommend checking out stangparts.com for used low mileage motors, then going from there, get a nice forged engine kit .. and whatever else u wanna do..

i blew my 2000 as well. See if you can find a cheap used one out there and throw it in. It will take less time and be cheaper. I found a great deal from a local board member and put a new stock engine in mine. [ February 08, 2004, 08:48 PM: Message edited by: 2000BlackGT ]

alright guys, here is the update. I removed the passenger side valve cover, and come to find out i didn't blow a rod. My timing chain came off and caused three or four rocker arms to snap completely along with busting a lifter. Basically, i am in pretty good shape compared to busting a rod. I was temporarily running off 4 cylinders. Yeah supposed to be a v8 but went to a v4.lol. I am planning on getting high lift cams, port and polish my heads, and shortie headers, along with new rocker arms and such. Is there anything else i should upgrade for these new parts i am going to have put on? and how much hp should iget from these mods?
