I have some march pullys and a stereo system I want to install, and I already have poor power. just with the cdplayer head unit on it makes my lights dim. so I am afraid to put on the pullys without putting on a higher amp alt. what should I get, 130,140,150??

at least 130 and do NOT replace the pulley on the alternator. That is all.

why not replace the pully on the altenator, the march kit came with the alternator pully

Then the real benifits of having a high amp alternator would be useless.

"power"pulleys imo opinion just cause more problems than they solve.

Some people experience cooling problems also. [Frown]

www.racesystems.com has a great artical on upgrading your alternator. Install the *smallest* alternator pulley you have. This will give you the most charge at idle.

Take the power robbing radio out, put the pullies on and just listen to the horsepower. It's all you really need [patriot]

AMEN to all those comments..I HATE power pullies so much, I gave them away...On my setup, I have only the crank and alt. and they work fine with a "custom set" of billet pullies from MARCH, not power pullies...my water pump before on my 351 always ran hot on the streets and shot up to 210 in a matter of minutes with lite traffic...beware!!!!!!!

they arnt the power pullies, they are the underdrive pullies. but I was worried if I put them on will that cause more power problems than I have. I just wanted to know what alternator to go with. thats all. 130, 140, 150?

Yeah, after i installed the MAC pullies on my alternator.. My Alternator / Voltage Guage stayed low on idle but went up faster when revved..

I took it out TEMP for now till i get my hands on 140amp or 130 amps...

I have this but my regulator on it went bad i need to get it rebuilt anyone know of a place i can take it in the east bay?
Also i want to put a smaller pulley on it, is that possible?

I know theres a good place in saratoga that put in a new regulator when mine went out on my powermaster. it was something like $30-40 i think. they did it the same day i brought it in too.

so are you guys saying the powermaster is bad? if the regulator is going to go out on me why would I want that brand?

Powermaster is good man, mine 140 amp gives me lots of power, just use the crank pully and water pump pully, the alternator pullie is never a good idea. If you're putting in subs and amps you will definately need a cap and you'll probably want to go with an optima battery as well. Good luck [patriot]

my powermaster just took a shit. it lasted through 2 and a half motors and about 5 years.
