my sister bought a set of 17x8 torque thrust 2 wheels. i tryed to install them on her car but they are hitting the upper conrtol arm ball joint. the back-spacing is 4"(it the only backspace that jegs sells) but i bought 1/2" spacers to make them fit but with no luck(i read in a magizine that 17x8 would fit with 4 1/2" back-spacing). any help is greatly appertiated.

Should fit no problem with 4.5 back spacing but then again they are using a shelby drop on the upper control arm or negetive wedge. So maybe a 4 3/4 will be more adequete for the front and stock suspension.

You don't get anything you take apart the front suspension and drill out new holes for the conrol arm 1 inch lower and make some metal plates.
Unless you buy the negative wedge kit that mustangs plus has and that'll lower it even more.
It improves handleing.

Well it does take a template centered correctly then drill so you don't fudge your suspension up.

It is not just 1 inch down...
Its 1 inch down and 1/8 inch back on both sides for a 67 and 68. I strongly advise you to re-align your car after doing this. Mike Maier will make you a template, and/or give you more specifics into doing this. If Im not mistaken the drop was incorporated into the design of the actual shelby control arm.
Doing this allows for more camber, which would in turn let the tire be "flatter" in and out of turns. [ January 16, 2004, 03:33 PM: Message edited by: Chosen1 ]
