Got an 87 LX lowered 1.5" switching to cobra 5-lug and 95 Cobra wheels, 17x9. Can I fit a 275/40 tire, or will a 255/40 be as big as I can go. I am using Ranger axles to keep width the same.
Thanks

you are going to have to remove the quad shocks and bang the inner fender with a sledgehammer and roll yer lips.

275 is fine in the back with a little massaging of the fender "lip" for when you go up driveways and over large bumps. 245 would be best in the front if you don't want to rub on hard corners, (If you even experiance any)

I am going to get 285/40/17 on the rear of my fox and it's lowered about 1.5" as well. My fender lips are completley rolled and I am also going to remove the quad shock. I'll let you know how they fit. Probably go with 245/40/17's up front. Oh and this is on 17x9" rims all around.

Yup it will fit fine with no issues. I had 275's and now got 285's with no rubbing or any problems. I don't even have rolled fenders, just no quads, and no tailpipes. Ohh and it's a 93 LX! [Big Grin]

Should work i ran that same size on the back Nitto Drags with 255/40/17's in front and it only rubbed if i had 3 heavy people in the car and we hit a bump... For the most part it was cool... I would HIGHLY recommend rolling the fenders tho, as everyone said...

'91-'93s have larger wheel well openings to accommodate the stock 16" wheels. Earlier cars only had 15" wheels, so getting even a 255/40/17 in there is going to require some massaging. Don't be surprised if your '87 needs some major fender work!

Bill is right about the 91+'s having larger wheel well's. I run 255/40/17 on all 4's with 17x8's up front & 17x9's in rear (going to 275's once these wear out). No rub at all up front. Check the offset of the wheel. My 17x8's are a 4.95" back space, the 17x9 are 5.95.

255/40/17's are 25" tall. My car is not lowered either.

Just some info to help
Scott
