Hi,
Are there any adjustments on this transmission?
Like Shift Points?
Can you Adjust the throttle pressure that triggers downshifts and torque converter lock-ups and dis-engagements?
Is there such a thing as "adjusting the bands"?
Is there anyone on this forum that knows my Tranny?
I'd like to talk with you.

Hi, there are no adjustments, band or otherwise. You can add a shift kit to make the shifts firmer, but you will need a chip to alter the shift points.

Thanks for the reply Blue... I've read your posts before, and I appreciate your sharing of knowlege
Mine seems so sensitive to the throttle. Slight acceleration (at 70 MPH) seems to trigger the Torque Converter to un-lock.
And, with Overdive "OFF"...when crusing at, say...a steady 45....moderate acceleration produces a hesitation that's hard to describe...Just a delay of a second or two before speed picks up.
The car is new to me, and I don't know if all this is normal.

I had the same AODE tranny in my 95 GT. I threw a B&M shift kit in there and most of the hesitation went away when downshifting. Also when you go from a stop the shifts chirp with no hesistation whatsoever. I also went with 4.10'd in the rear and that also helped a shit load. The reason your torque cnverter dissengauges I believe is because the stock convertor is only like 1600 or something. There are quite a few companies that sell torque convertors for this tranny and this should get rid of all your troubles

Sounds like from what you are saying that the converter is working correctly, but without some seat time, I wouldn't be able to make a guess about your hesitation. Does the rpm come up (like a slip) or does the engine bog down or sputter?

Reply to BlueOvalRacing,
I don't believe that its a matter of the engine sputtering or bogging down.
Nor do the revs go up; not initially.
It's tough to describe...sort of like a rubbery feeling as if the driveline is absorbing torque somewhere and then releasing it.
If I lived in Galt; we could go for s drive..it would be so much simpler; eh?
Thanks for reading, Rusty

Does it feel like a shudder?

or like driving over a washboard surface for a second?

Nope, Not like a shudder or washboard.
It's just not a steady, immediate surge of power when you press the accelerator. In "seat of the pants feel" there seems to be a LOSS of acceleration for a second or so, and then the surge comes on. However, there is no drop in RPMS noted on the tach, and engine sound does not indicate any stumble or drop in revs either. Still; I think that if you had some sort of Acceleration sensor, it would indicate a momentary drop off followed by a strong surge.
It is definately related to having the OD set to "OFF".
BTW...does the TC lock-up function in OD-OFF mode?
And, is there a chip mod that would allow driver control of the TC lockup and tranny shiftpoints?
Mind you; I'm not racing the car...I just don't like the way that the slightest amouint of throttle change causes the TC to unlock.
I miss the old days of the C6's and vacuum modulators and the like...eh?
