8 quarts! Plus filter. You could get away with 8 quarts total though.

ROTFL.......
Sorry but I found this kinda funny since you answered your own question. Not saying it's not good to ask questions. Better be sure than sorry right.
That must suck having to buy $15 bucks extra of oil if using synthetic. I still will have one on my motor though. [ January 11, 2004, 01:19 PM: Message edited by: Fostang ]

I personally would run the 8 since I will be using a high volume pump and oil cooler along with possibly a system that runs oils through the motor before you start it oh and lets not forget the vortech(not like it takes a whole lot anyways).
Looks to me like you made up your mind at 6.

depending on the style of pan, some people will run less then the maximum capacity of the pan to keep the crank out of the oil. Less windage, less resistance, more power.
Clearly the car ran a long time of 5 quarts so there is no "need" to fill the pan to capacity. However the oil will hold up longer and there is a lot of insurance against starving the pump at high RPM sweeping turns where the oil wants to be pushed to the side instead of to the back of the pan.
