any shops in sac/davis area that someone would recommend? need my auto (4r70w) tranny and maybe motor/tranny mounts checked out because of crazy 3rd and 4th gear shaking.

it shifts the same through all the gears, but while IN gear on 3rd and 4th, if i give it gas, it shakes/shudders. the shudder becomes minimal at 85mph+ ~3000rpm+ in 4th). but in 3rd@70mph the car feels like its gonna rattle apart. i think the tranny oil is burning off on the exhaust... had to start refilling it once in a while, and when i replaced one of the o2 sensors there was oil burned onto the x pipe. the tranny also makes a clicking noise when accelerating from a start in 1st. the clicking increases as speed increases and it goes away quickly.

thinking could be mounts or torque converter.. dunno about the clicking tho....

The front driveshaft yoke has eaten and spun the bushing in the extension housing. You will need to get a new yoke and housing (and gasket) to fix it. Be sure to mark your driveshaft at the rear flange if you can't see the factory yellow marks, and match the paint mark on the new yoke to the mark on the back of the output shaft, or else you will have a vibration again.

wow, thanks a lot... that was really quick [Smile]
uh... does anyone know a shop that could do this (sacramento/davis/etc area)?

might need to go to the ford dealer to get the parts, but really don't wanna pay for it to be done there.

I work at a dealer, so it won't be the cheapest. But remember, sometimes you get what you pay for...
