For those of you with new motors, just curious what company you went with for your short/long block and what you have heard about such company's as keith craft, CHP, etc... Any input would be appreciated, just tryin to see who to go with for the 347 [patriot] .

If the choice was between KeithKraft or Coast High Performance, I'd go KeithKraft. Coast has some good kits, but their assembly has been less than stellar what I have seen. You may also try somebody local who will work with you if there is a problem.
This guy built the motor in my pickup.

thnx for the input so far... I was thinking of just going with a long block because it would be less hassle for me, but im still not sure yet... maybe a keith kraft 347, 10:5:1 compression, afr 185's, custom cam...? Something like that. I already have an intake im gonna try and run with (fully ported cobra), so hopefully in the end this will all come together...

I got my 351 Stroker from a place in Torrance. The parts list they faxed me was identical to one of the Keith Craft list (yes I called to get a detailed list). The place I wound up getting mine from was cheaper and took payments. I was in a little different situation because I was going to a 351 from a 302. I was very happy with my shortblock, and if something does go wrong, someone locally can always rebuild it. I just wish I got better rods with my setup.

the only part about that combo that sounds poop ass is the intake, even if the intake is fully ported it can match the performance of an edelbrock rpm or typhoon with some portmatching

i hear ya on the intake..but its all i have to deal with for the time, basically its whats sitting in my room right now, but maybe i can sell it and grab something a little better [Wink] . Just curious, what are 30lb injectors good up to (hp wise)? Should i go with those or 36'ers? 36 just seems like too big for n/a. Other than that im going to run a 75mm tb, the anderson n/a powerpipe, pullies, long tubes, 3"x, all the little stuff/bolt ons... Already have suspension & rearend set up, so it should run strong...

30's would probably be enough, but 36's couldnt hurt, and 42's are way to big for u

I bought my 331 from Keith Craft. If I am ever in the market for another, it will also be from them.

Can anyone else vouch for this? Ive been looking into them as well. I think ill have to throw a few calls out to each of these builders and get some prices layed out... Does anyone know if Ed Curtis can easily be contaced? Id definitely like his opinion on the subject...

Albert, who did your motor? Bayshore?

Why not just get it done at Bayshore Scott. It's local if anything goes wrong and you know their motors run hard as fuck. Do it right, don't do it cheap [patriot]

if you are going to order one, i would go with kieth craft, bennett racing, DSS, or Ford Performance Solutions. Also follow what the engine builder reccommeneds...i had a buddy get a shortblock from DSS and they reccommended graphite gaskets and he went other and they blew in 4 months, then he went to what they reccommended and its been pullin strong since then( 11.20s). Also keep in mind you get what ya pay for...(unless its griggs building yer motor [Razz] ) so if you go cheap on any part expect it that part to be yer weak point.

I have seen motors go bad fromm DSS and seen ALOT of problems from Ford Performance Solutions! If you want someone good local call Dave's Engine Machining. They do top notch work and are good people. (510)797-9536
