When I drive my needle is way above the half way but when sitting at idle it drops to the second line from the bottom with my lights and electric fan going plus the stereo. Mine will sit right near 14 volts when I first turn it on, then if I turn on the headlights it drops to about 13, then when the electric fan turns on it drops to 12. These numbers are all at idle. With all accessories running it drops to just below the middle line (though the lights never dim).
