I am looking for some upper control arms for my car> I am looking at the BBK uppers, The Granatelli from Summit, and the Wolfe racing. Who makes some that have the most solid bushing? I was told that some offer somewhat of a steel bushing. I guess im not really worried about creaks in the suspension> as like as it hooks.
Thanks for any help [patriot]

I like matching suspension setups... uppers/lowers/sway bar/springs/, etc is all from the same set that is designed to work together.
I wouldn't mix & match suspension parts

bbk/granatelli/mac/summit- all use the same shitty UCA design, with some stiff ass bushings that only bind and tear up ur torque boxes

you want an adjustable upper with spherical bushings so u can set pinion angle and no or very little bind
for a standard type upper, i like the steeda uppers, like these from steeda
 -
personnal i am going with a new type of upper mad by baseline
http://www.baselinesuspensions.com
It relocates the upper to give a better Instant center for harder launches, check it out, they will be going on my car in a few weeks, jeff s is also running the baseline stuff, or will be once his car is running again

if u havent done it, also have ur tq boxes fully welded and maybe braced

That suspsension setup looks cool. Can you still run tailpipes with setup #1? The price for that oen is not bad> but for the heavy duty version> thats a bit more costly. Is this company located back east? Products look good> I guess I would be ok with the medium duty if I plan on going 9's?

u would be fine with the standard kit, and the nice thing is, u dont need bushings in the rearend for the uppers, so it actaully cost less for the baseline stuff
because adjustable uppers are 200 abd bushings are 80

yes u can run tail pipes, but iu suggest cutting those suckers off and putting a good anti roll bar in there [patriot] , will real help your launch and end track stability

I run the Summit brand upper & lowers. They were cheap, but seem worlds better than the stockers. The hardware they came with was junk, and I used the oem bolts/nuts again. Helped cornering, but not the 60 ft.

Harold,

If you are planning on getting serious then you absolutely should get double adjustable uppers. With these you can make pinion angle adjustments without having to remove one end of the arm to do it. I don't think the brand is necessarily that important but the type of bushings is, they should be spherical bearings on both ends. The lowers would be best with a spherical on one end (the front) and a solid aluminum bushing on the axle end. I personally would not use a lower arm that relocates the instant center with the kind of power you will be making. Standard geometry will work best, IMO. Also, an anti-roll bar is manditory if you want to maximize traction. Any anti-roll bar is better then none. Just one more opinion.

John> thanks bud. I think that Im going to run the Mega bite double adjustable uppers> with the spherical bushings. I already have the mega bite Jr. lowers. I am also going to be looking into loosing my tailpipes and running the Wolfe anti roll bar. I think that without the roll bar I will tr yto run the car at the track and see what I can put together. I really dont want to loose the tailpipes but if I can take them off just for the track then I might be able to pull that off> its just around town> its over [Big Grin]
Thanks for your reply!

wikd i would reccommend the Steeda Upper control arms and mega bite lower control arms(all adjustable of course) so you can fine tune yer rear suspention in to yer setup and power. Also i would also get a UPR anti roll bar( exactly the same as wolfe's ..hehe but cheaper) [Razz]

Right on man man> thanks for the reply. I ended up ordering the Mega Bite upper control arms> I think I am going to try the matching setup first> then I can always try something else. I know that a very fast modular car on corral> Dave King> runs 8's with a 98 cobra that has the exact same setup that youre talking about> the Mega bite Jr. lowers and the Steeda uppers. I am having my rear end completely welded up right now> so I am hoping that I wont be ripping the torque boxes to shit when I get back to the track. I did put in the Wolfe rein. plates for the lowers> and then completely boxed the uppers. The sway bar I would like to go with> but I have heard that they recommned you do not run it on the street> because you can crack it. I built this car for mainly street driving/cruising> so I really dont want to run a sway bar like that unless I really have to. The plan is to get back to the track> check out how stable the car is and see how it launches with what I have> then I can always add the Sway bar later.
