Anyone used or heard anything on Performance Products Typhoon Intakes? Are they any good? The price is nice ($269 for a satin finish) and they claim they are as good as a Trick Flow. Is this true or are they blowing sunshine up the buyers ass.

They're supposed to be identical to the Edelbrock 5.0 RPM's so they should be aight.

poor finish, poor casting and need more to install than an edelbrock. Chose another intake.

I just put on a polished one. Took some clean up w/ a grinder on the inside. It fit fine, just a lot of little casting marks and the ports at the head mating surface needed to be opened up a tad to match the Fel-Pro 1250. Look at it this way. If you don't mind doing some clean up work, you get the equivalent to the RPM for less money. Did you measure the ports on the one you installed, Eric?

Well, so far we have three real installs and several "I heard" stories. Pay attention to the folks that have actually used one.
1 "sucks ass" report 1 "wasn't perfect but worth the price" report 1 "Not bad at all" report
How about dates when they were installed? Eric did his yesterday, mine was about a month ago, and Joe was, what, 6 months ago?

Go pick up and look thru the Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine and/or the 5.0 Mustang Magaizine and look thru all of the vendors. I know they sell them in there.

Yup sure got that intake from Sac5.0
Haven't gotten it on yet or any time soon. I was actually surprised at the casting quality of the intake doesn't look that bad as many are saying.
I plan on port matching the whole thing and smothing out the runners the best I can. Which is pretty damn well
I especially like that the side piece can still be removed like the edelbrocks for porting. If you wish I can post some pictures of the intake from within.
Oh yeah GET THE POLISHED ONE!!!!! Less than $400 for this type shipped is the cheapest I've seen. Roughly $380. Ebay.

Why did you switch from your "super Cobra" intake?...Have you had a chance to track test the new intake yet?...

One track test w/ no tuning- 12.12 at 112.x. We were sent the intake to test for an article. Once my damn car is fixed I will be doing the dyno and then back to the track. This is a test about runner length. This intake is a lot shorter than the Cobra- so in theory it will better match my cam in high rpm use. The reality may be that the Cobra flows more total volume after being hogged out so it can better feed my heads up to 5k. I will try to get the intakes flow tested as well.

How about flow testing the one I'm working on. He he heee typhoon also.
Anyone know where I can find 7 inch screws 3/8" with thread all the way up???
I've been looking but all of the threads stop about half way up.
I need them for porting if anyone is curious.

So, 12.12 @ 112.x?...Is that a better MPH than with the ported Cobra intake?...Sorry, I dont remember your last track times(no longer in your sig)...Also, if you dont improve on mph will you switch back?...

Bet your ass I will switch back if it is slower. I do have quite a few dyno tuning runs w/ the Cobra, so it was dialed in. AND i think I need to shift a bit higher w/ this intake (dyno will show if it is needed) so I may have been short shifting at the last track session.
Previous times/mph in sig.
