On my 89 I took the brackets off of the front of the engine and the stay clip that sets to the right shock tower.
The bracket bolts on right behind the air pump on the right and behind the power steering pump on the left.
If you look from below the car, you will see them..
After you remove them and pull the stay clip, they should reach fine.
I used a tie to hold the 2 together just to make sure that they didn't get too close to the header and to make sure that they were not hanging down to get caught on something.

You can also buy new sensors w/ longer leads. If your current ones are old- might be time to get that new set.

I extended 1 wire at a time from the 3-wire O2 harness with 14 gauge and a soldering iron. Re-routing the factory harness proved too complicated for me [Big Grin]

I made my own extenders for a few dollars.

Long story short:

-Go to a junk yard and fine a Taurus. Hack off the O2 sensor connector and the connector from the harness that plugs into the O2. Leave plenty of wire when you cut off the connectors. You now have a male and female O2 connector. Simply solder the two ends together to make your own extention cable, being sure to match up the wires correctly. You will need to find two Taurus's, thunderbirds, and many other Ford cars since they only have 1 O2 sensor.
