I finally get my new rubbers all around and my camber caster plates on and alligned. So i am driving home enjoying my new allignment, so ofcourse i take a few turns. I took a sequence of like 4 turns and now it sounds like my drum brakes in the rear are griding like crazy, the brakes were perfect before these turns. The gridin is constant at higher speeds and it comes speratically at lower speeds. The noise goes away for a few seconds then comes back for a few minutes, and it changes sound when the car is turning. I am positive the noise is comming from the rear, rear right i beleive. So what do you think it could be, do i need to get my rear brakes adjusted, or new wheels bearings or what????? [ November 19, 2003, 11:34 AM: Message edited by: Tryin2GoFast ]

Noises are hard to duduce on the internet...
I would put the rear axle on jack stands, start the car and put it in second gear and let the engine turn the wheels...Get out and check to see where the noise is comming from....That way you might be able to pin point the noise better...
Make sure the wheel weights are on properly, check the rear differential fluid level, and if you still cant find the problem take off the drums and look to see if you need new shoes or anything else obvious....

I had a similar problem with my drum brakes on my 1987 GT a long time ago. When the car would move slowly, the squeeky/grinding sound was more noticable than when I was going fast. When I finally took off my drum and looked at it, a spring had popped off and was scraping on the drum as it rotated when the car was in motion. If I were you, I would just take the drum off and take a look at everything, making sure NOTHING is touching the drum when it spins. Hope this helped!

I found out that the bastards at RyNck on Mission Blvb in hayward forgot to put the lug nut on the stud with the lock on it. Fuckin Morons. Im about to head out to their shop to get myself hopefully a whole new set of studs he he. The back half of the bolt was what was causing the noise as it was sitting, scraping shit up in the drum. How could you forget a lug nut?!?!?!?!? I was scared shitless, i keep breaking suspension parts on the car when driving it hard and i thought i had done some more damage to my rear susp but it was only the work of one moron.
