I'm having an intermittent problem with a 94 Thunderbird. It starts out with a slightly rough idle and over a period of miles, begins spewing raw gasoline out the exhaust. Take it into the dealer/mechanic and he can't verify the problem. It's been suggested that it might have been bad gas, but it's happened a few times and if it's been bad gas every time, I'm taking those odds to Vegas.
To my knowledge, they've checked everything from head gaskets to ignition timing, with no luck. Happens once or twice a year.
Any ideas?

tbird94- I was thinking O2 sensor until you said it happens once or twice a year. Problems that occur so rarely are very hard to diagnose. Sounds like an intermitant electrical problem.

May not be the same thing but I knew a guy who had a problem with and injector that was shorting out on the intake (5.0 Mustang) and it was dumping gas into the exhaust. Other than that, I would look at the fuel regulator. If excess pressure isn't getting back to the tank, it has to go somewhere. Good luck.

Thanks, guys. That will at least give me a good start to tell my mechanic. Let you know how it turns out.
