Please post your setups.
Someone on corral said i would not be able to run 11's on the motor and still get at least 15MPG and still have alright driveability.

I'm close.
Drives great. Twisted Wedge heads ported, custom cam, trying both a heavily ported Cobra intake and a new Typhoon. 24lb'ers, FPR, under drive pullies, electric fan, stock airbox w/ K&N panel filter, 76mm MAF, 70mm TB, 3.73's, 26x10.5 ET Streets. Car race weight w/out driver is between 3000-3050. No front sway bar, 90-10's w/ front draq springs, upper/lower rear control arms. tThink that is most of it. Oh- short belt at track.

Still has A/C, power steering, smog pump, full interior, Stereo, Pwr windows, pdl.

it all depends on the race weight of your car and suspension. Do you want 11's on nittos or 11's on slicks. To have a true daily driver 11 sec setup i think it means its on nitto drag radials and you run at the the track with the same conditions you drive on the street with. My first 347 was close to that with an x cam and some afr 165's. ran 12.3 at 114.8 on nittos. Second 347 185,s custom cam 11.6 at 119.8 on nittos, still very streetable, cruzed to the track on nittos and 17x9 cobra r's. Race weight on second setup was about 3450 or so. Even the first car was capable of 11's but not in street trim with drag radials. Both cars got about 15mpg on the freeway probably 10 through town.

Power is useless w/out traction. Why limit yourself? Besides, now I don't have to worry about wearing out my street tires at the track.

I get about 22 mpg cruising 80 mph, much less in the city,head/cam/intake stock bottom-end302 that's put (3) 11's up recently (11.9s @112-114 mph). It's a little quicker on nitrous though.

most daily driver blower combos *will* have more of a problem making 20 mpg if you keep your foot in it,

Rhett's got the fastest NA Daily driver.

Sassy has one of the more impressive daily drivers. She drives her 69 Camaro EVERY DAY to and from work, gets about that gas mileage on the freeway. Her car has run a best 12.00 with a 357 N/A, on slicks, mild 3.73's, and minimal 2500 stall, full interior, no cage, stereo. Heading into the final PSCA event of the year this weekend in Arizona, she is 3rd in Open Comp.

A 357 running 12.00 in a 3000lb car is impressive?

Posted by shade- (Member # 298) on :

that car is full weight though Jim, I don't know what that means for a 69 camaro? 3450 with driver?

Shade do you have a complete list of your setup? How much does your car weigh? What size gear do you run?

Lets see a 12.0 sec 357 on drag slics or a mid 11 347 on nittos. You decide.

Id say its impressive because it goes 12.0's on a relatively mild setup. Its not one of those cars that should be driven every day, our could be driven every day, or will be driven every day, IT IS DRIVEN every day and has been since January.

Camara's car is also impressive, I've seen it dyno, and Ive seen it run.

And I never said Michelle's was the MOST impressive.

anything that is as mild as michelles setup that goes low 12's na is pretty impressive in my book.

She would be in the 11's but shes missing the toothbrush. [Eek!] [Wink]

She would also be faster if she had nitrous, but her car will never have that.

Kevin's drives his Nova everywhere including Reno ran 10.90's all day on motor, and 10.20's on N20 that was never dialed in correctly. Now while he rebuilds that motor, he runs low 12's on his donor motor. Thats 3500 with driver and a cage. That gets a [Whoo Whooooo!] from me.

My 347 with 10 to one should get me in the mid to low 11's soon but it isn't daily driven due to the fact I have a jeep [Big Grin] I think it could be driven daily if I wanted to

Posted by FasterDamnit (Member # 442) on :

Wish I had the extra 55 cubic inches. Then my ~3250 race weight fully optioned daily driver would be in the mid 11's. On '87 octane.

Thanks for the kind words Mark. But in all fareness, it was our 'beloved local hot shoe' that produced the times in my car. Ive only eeked out a few 11s myself.

I drive my car daily and get about 17MPG, could possibly be a 11.9 with slicks on a 150 shot and the right driver but I won't be able to tell you until funds increase for slicks and a flip chiptune so I can throw on the 150 jets. full weight convertible 88. 306 with 10:1. ported stock heads and intake, e-cam, all the bolt ons [patriot]

DAHHH I can't belive you even posted that. LOL of course she would be faster on NOS

I dont know why Michelle wont put nitrous in her car. Shit, she dates Mr. Nitrous. I think she is happy with her car the way it is.

Oh yeah and saying her car will go faster with nitrous...should be a no brainer. But Ive seen a few cars on this message board alone, go slower on nitrous (pseudocobra). When you post on a message board where people make posts about running heavier rims to launch harder, you sometimes have to post the obvious.
