It seems as though whatever that little nozzle is on the line is either leaking or randomly spitting out oil. The problem is, at idle it isn't leaking or doing anything, but when driving I can smell the oil burning and I stop and can see oil sprayed that LOOKS like it is coming from that line or nozzle. I'm 90% sure it is coming from that little nozzle, but since I can't see it happening I can't be completely positive. Does it need to be tightened or loosened, replaced, or has anyone else ever seen this?

Looks like an A/C line/hose
If it's leaking oil, it's also releasing your freon.
Kinda hard to tell from such a small picture, but that's my guess

yeah i can't even tell what hose you are talking about there is like 3 hoses running in the picture. Maybe make it alittle bigger and draw an arrow to the one your talking about?

It's the big one going straight up and down through the whole picture, with the nozzle I am talking about being dead center in the picture. Its not an AC hose.

all i see is an a/c hose. maybe the valve is bad. you can unscrew that cap to take a better look.

you will see water dripping from that hose after runnning the A/C, ice builds up on it, then melts when ypu park the car leaving a nice puddle.
[Eek!]

your oil leak is prolly somewhere else, maybe rear main seal? oil pan gasket? valve cover gasket?

those are the common ones.

good luck!!!!!

Hmmmm, well I know it's definately oil that is leaking. But where the oil is splashing doesn't look like it could be a seal or from the intake? I will have to take some pictures when I get home. I will repost as soon as I get them...

Ok, this sounds stupid, but let me know if this is even possible. From the angles that I'm looking at, it looks as if the oil might be coming out of the dipstick tube? Is this possible, say if I were to have accidentally put an extra quart of oil in? Has this ever happened?

I will upload the pictures onto the thread tomorrow at work.. dial up sucks.

yeah you could blow oil out in an extreme case of blow-by but if it's coming from that line with the shrader valve on it then for sure its your A/C line, and there is oil in those lines and if thats the case you will need to vacum and charge the lines with a new hose or shrader valve.

Im 110 % positive thats your High End of the AC line. Sometimes that line gets bent from trying to stick a whole arm through the driver side when someone changed spark plugs.

The oil your seeing is probably just the refrigerant thats leaking out the seals, runnning down your lines and hitting the dipstick.

Well how much oil is in this line? The fluid that is coming out looks like oil more than anything else. And if it was just a leak, I'm not sure what explains the fact that it is spraying all over the right side of the engine bay and on top of the valve cover?

Also, why would this only be occuring while I am driving, and not when I let it sit there and idle for like 10 minutes?

Its refrigerant w/ oil (SMALL amount) thats coming out. That line usually stays cool, and during the winter when the air is cool, and the engine gets hot, moisture usually builds up around that line and drips down. Add that leak to that moisture drip and you've got leaks galore. Sometimes it even looks like your valve covers, headers, etc. on that side are leaking if you run your heater too. Solution is: replace the AC line if its that big of a deal.

Summertime: all that shit evaporates thats why you didnt notice it then.

OK I got the pictures up. So are you saying that even if the heater isn't turned on, it will still be making that condensation? Take a look at the pictures.. you will see that it looks like all oil, and notice how it is splashed up against the fenderwall, all over the valve cover, and even a little on the side of the upper intake. This is driving me crazy....

IMO, your refrigeration system is fine. if it was leaking like that (that badly) it would be finished by now (no freon left)

i think you had it right thinking that it is coming from the dipstick tube. you mentioned that you put in an "extra quart" of oil? that'll do it!

one other thing. does your brake fluid level change? it looks like the leak could also be from the brake fittings. that would only happen when driving the car too. only when you hit the brakes...

there is a good reason to use colored oils like royal purple so that it is easy to differentiate crankcase oil from ATF or brake or power steering fluid.

why don't you plug the dipstick hole with a cork or rubber stopper then tape a paper towel near the leak. a short drive around the block might tell you if it's still doing it or not and the towel might help locate the source.

good luck!

Thats a good friggin idea... I didn't even think about capping the damn dipstick. You are a more clever man than I. That will be the first thing I do when I get home.

About 2 weeks ago, I topped off the oil (I burn about a quart every 2 or so months), but I think I may have put that extra one in not even realizing it. If I plug it and realize that I did put that extra quart in, would it be giving me blowby problems?

I also thought about those brake lines right there, but I checked the level in the resevoir and it looked like it was completely topped off (the yellow floaty when pressed down fluid rose above it). And brake fluid is normally almost clear right, and not a dark brown color (yeah I need an oil change)?
