How do you get the input shaft out of a T-5. Do you have to open up the inspection cover or does it come out when out unbolt the bearing reatainer?

It comes out after you un-bolt the bearing retainer....BE CAREFULL!...There are 10 or 12 needle bearings as well as the fourth gear syncro that can fall out as you are taking the input shaft out...Also the input shaft has to be turned to a certain point so that a slot in the shaft allows it to come out...Keep the trany in neutral and pack the input shaft needle bearings with grease to hold them in place when you re-install the input shaft....
