My car hits a wall at 5400 rpms. I thought it was possible the VSS. I resolve the speedo issue and it didn't help. I thought it may be the chip but I had the rev and speed limiters raised on them by Byron already who too says there's nothing wrong with my calibration.
I'm getting a compression and leak down test tomorrow. Could be a Valve Float problem???
I have a Lunati cam (L51014) and Twisted Wedge heads that have been on the car for 2years now.
My rwhp numbers from 10/11 seemed pretty low to me at 239.
If it is a Valve problem, how hard are the spring to replace and how much does something like that usually cost on a 94 GT?
Thanks,
Tony

I think I was at the dyno the same day with you. Man that is really low numbers. 93 pony with heathers car just put out 300 to the wheels. You are missing about 50rwhp good luck finding it. I am on the look out for he 30-40 mine is missing and I will soon find it

Yep that was me...your car is pretty sweet.
Hopefully I'll get some good news today about were my missing hp could be. Byron actually got it up to 249 at one point but the car had idle problems and had to lean it out which brought it down to 10hp

yeah u have more sproblems than just valve springs, post the results of the compression and lrak down, i think those will be a little on the low side, how many miles are on ur shortblock anyway

I had the same thing happen because the valvesprings could'nt handle my old cam and it was'nt very large. You might want to check into that theory since mine had maybe 500 miles on them and were already down to 60lbs. of pressure. Too much longer and I'm sure it would've dropped a valve or 3.

I've got 112k on the short block...
The car still feels like it's pulling strong but then just falls flat on it's face.
I couldn't do the tests today but will try tomorrow at a shop near my work.
Thanks guys

You may have multiple issues but I'm sure the springs are shot. I replace mine every one to two years depending on how much racing I do and it looks like you drive your car everyday.

If the springs were shot, would they be making a certain noise?
Mine aren't making any kinda noise.

The noise isn't that noticable but like you explain it will acause your call to looes power in the upper ranges when they start to go. The engine will get a little louder and the car will not want to pull past that rpm at all. Sounds like weak spring associated with rebuild time. Good luck, I dropped a valve and still haven't recovered.

JohnB helped me do a compression today (thanks John)...
Right off the bat, he found that the 1 cylinder was dead. Cyclinder 2 was at 140. We stopped there.
I guess it's time to buy a new short block.

Not a problem Tony, thanks for hooking me up with a hood! Next I would do a leak-down, hopefully you just have a weak spring/bent valve and it's not the shortblock (unless you just wanna go with a stroker and call it a day! )

I think I'll go for the stroker...
I'm actually kinda excited about it now. I'll prolly get in January. I call you to see if you can put it together for me when the time comes.
Thanks again.

Turns out i was having a valve float issue with mine as evidendenced buy yesterdays work. Shaun aka. 93pony, was kind enough to do a spring swap on my car because he and others thought i may have had an issue there. Findings..nearly every shim was worn completely through and had to whale on the exhaust side to get the things free. I gotta say, i really didnt expect this being as i had a comp k-kit that included matching springs and expected them to be fine. This set up had 5 to 10k miles at the most..Thanks again Shaun.

My pleasure bud. I'm glad we got that issue solved....now you can run as big of a cam as you like! How about a 252/250 112LSA using Pure street lobes?

Too bad I didn't put solid-roller springs in that thing! Max those springs can take is .650 lift safely with the most aggressive hydraulics made. Spring pressure is only 145lbs at 1.800 & 425lbs at 1.200. That's just a little shy of the 500lbs+ needed for a mild solid roller.
