couldn't agree more. I've seen people break them in under 60k miles with a "mostly stock" motor. Mine has 106k miles with 460tq at the wheels. It got the blower at around 40k miles...

I've blown 2 or 3(I lost count) with my last car and 1 with my first Mustang....The first Mustang was basically stock..My last Mustang had 254 rwhp and 300rwtq...
After installing a Z spec in my first Mustang I had no problems...Then, after blowing T5 after T5 with my last Mustang I decided to rebuild my T5 myself using super alloy gears...

It was pretty striaght foward...I bought the D&D(D&D ) rebuild kit then I had to buy the super alloy gear set on top of that...Then I had to buy some tools like snap ring pliars, drill punch, silicon, ATF and ETC...The rebuild kit was somethin like $150, the gear set was like $270...It was around $450+ with shippin and everything...It was still over $500 for parts, so imagine if I still had to pay someone to rebuild it!...
Drew, I still dont know how you NEVER blew your Yellow beasts T5 .....

It really all depends but from what I have gathered after going threw 2 of them, is that T5s always go if they are shocked. ie slicks, powershifting, too much backlash in the ring and pinon, ect. I would say a t5 on street tires never power shifted would last with 450hp no problem just because it doesn't recieve that shock. its the Blast of 300 lbs of torque from the motor onto slicks that will just destroy it especially if anything isn't installed just right. T5s are good tranny but if your going to race with slicks and stuff step up to something better.

It all comes down to which part of the drivetrain is going to take the force. It's usually front to back (clutch, tranny, rear) that gets hit the hardest (clutch being the first to get hit the hardest). I have a little over 400rwhp/370rwtq and I am still living on my stock clutch and tranny. I do powershift and have road raced the car and it is still lasting...tires essentially being the fuse that keeps me out of trouble... [ October 24, 2003, 10:52 AM: Message edited by: CobramanPhil ]

How much power will that hold? Would i be better off buying a TKO? Is there a power rating for the parts?

yes if you can afford a TKO you are much better off talk to the Brain about it he has plenty of expirence with it. Get the TKO so you don't have to worry about it.
