I'd guess at around 400rwhp that a step up would be beneficial.

400RWHP would be a good start.

It completely depends on the setup.

Currently, this is the list:
331" stroker, C&L 76mm, 75mm TB, Holley intake(opened inlet to 75mm), AFR 185's(61cc 10.1 compression), Comp XE282HR cam, & Pro Magnum 1.6 rockers.
Stock fuel system w/Walbro 255 in-tank pump, Kirban FPR, & FMS 30lb injectors.
Bassani 1 3/4" shorties, Mac 2 1/2" X-pipe, & Magnaflow 2 1/2" cat-back.
Will my exhaust be cool or would I benefit in a 3" system? Also, would this make it in the 11's? It's all goin into my '92 notch w/5sp & 4:10's. [ October 18, 2003, 10:29 AM: Message edited by: Rhombeus50 ]

What's the big deal w/1 3/4" shorties vs. 1 3/4" LT's. I heard that the shorties would give me more hp & torque down low, but the LT's pick up about 15-20 hp way up in the rpms. Is this true? My car is gonna be a street car & I don't think I'll be revving it past 5k too often, especially on the street.

I have long tubes on my new setup. I have heard they are better and pickup a lot more power than shorties all the way up.

You only see 3 inch systems on race cars for the most part. You don't need a 3 inch system until you make insane amounts of power really.

If your car isn't going to be revved much above 5, stick with the 2 1/2 inch. Also, if you're using shorties for low end torque and hp, why kill it with 3 inch?

Anything above 450ish horsepower to the wheels and 3" will HELP, below that power it will hurt.
