I dont have any chain, and cant see a good way of doing this. Can I just lower the jack and let it fall? Its already broken.

Just balance the tranny on the jack and drop it.

if it's a t-5 or similar, you can jsut pull it out and use your arms. We've used jacks before and just basically "bench pressed" it out of there, and they really aren't that heavy.
You dont really need chains, just be careful if you're going to use a jack, and make sure it's balanced. It wont fall, and make sure you dont let it fall either!

Its an AOD. Dont know when ill get it out, I snapped two ratchets on the same bolt last night. Off to buy another.
