Run some of the fuel out of the tank.

You need to drop the gas tank. Chances are the wiring has issues, or the lever arm of the sensor is stuck.

I would do what they recommended. My first 5.0 read full tank all the time, then went straight to quarter tank. I never fixed the problem because I got used to it and I never ran out of gas.

Never messed with a sender on a late model but a shop manual should outline a prcedure to determine if its the guage, wiring or the sender.
