i think your block has to be specially honed for those rings cause they're softer than stock. stock hone of blocks are ment for cast stock rings, therefore are a rougher hone and will eat up molly rings alot quicker like say with in a couple of hundred miles maybe.

I run moly rings on all my engines and only had a problem with them once because i put them in with oil. Now i put them in dry and make sure the cylinder wall is dry for initial startup because this helps the rings seat better. I could be right or wrong this is just my opinion from my experience. Since ive put them in dry i have never had a seaing problem

i think you have a problem with the valve guides or possibly valve seals... oil on the rings would burn off on startup, oil would not stay on the rings an eventually burn off. if your rings are gapped incorrectly, then that is another possibility... was the engine PROFESSIONALY honed, or did your neihbor guy take a ball stone hone to the cylinders?

Don't Moly rings start out soft then harden up like hella hard after break in? i'm not too familiar with them at all, really...but I hear if you want a good seal, use chrome moly rings.

I thought the best to use for a good seal are Plasma moly, that is what I am using with JE pistons on a 408
