question reguarding solid lifters.
if your currently running a cam with hydrolic roller lifters, is it possible to run the same cam and switch to solid roller lifter?
thanks

Technically yes, but not the other way around (solid to hydraulic). The lobes for a solid roller cam are MUCH more aggressive then a hydraulic lifter can handle. You must also realize that you can not simply 'bolt down' the roller rockers. You must set lash in the system or you will bind up the valvetrain & cause severe damage. The valvetrain will also get significantly more noisy. Behond that there is NO performance gain from using solid rollers without a solid roller cam profile.
I would not recomend doing it.

thanks for your reply. im having a hard time understanding quote: You must also realize that you can not simply 'bolt down' the roller rockers. You must set lash in the system or you will bind up the valvetrain & cause severe damage
Im new to the cam thing here. ive never ran a cam big enough to worry about it. right now im running a cam with a 595 lift. and i just dont agree with reving so high with the hydrolic roller lifter. im trying to understand as much as i can about what i need.
thanks

I just installed a cam with .598 lift in a 91GT. Stock 120K mile lifters are working just fine. Rev capability is all about spring pressure. The springs I installed to work with the cam have ~160lbs seat & 370lbs open. This is for a fast-ramped Magnum cam. Slower cam profiles don't need as much spring. But....the stock lifters can take just over 400lbs. So, don't go over that & you'll be able to rev the piss out of the motor.

Give me a run-down on the setup & I can find a good OTS cam for your setup.
