Sometimes i smell something that is almost like burning rubber but I'm not burning out. Do burnt clutches smell a little like rubber? My clutch has always made a funny noise since I bought the car in 99, but it shifts just fine.

Can a clutch all of a sudden just go out? or will I start to feel it slip first?

Factory clutches burning smell more like rotten eggs than rubber. Hard to describe.

Burning clutches smell like shit and when they start to slip, you will notice that your 2nd gear [burnout] and 3rd gear [burnout] tire chirps begin to no longer happen! Your clutch doesn't just all of a sudden go out unless you have a crapload of power and you blew it to smitherines! It has been 4 years since you bought the car right? Get a new clutch kit anyway and your problems will no longer consist of the clutch [Big Grin]
