hey my friend is building a race car (its a chevy) and hes changing the firing order to pick up a few HP . does anyone know anything about this.

Did he change the cam as well?

how does changing the firing order make hp? And how do you change the lobe locations on the cam? It doesnt do any good to have an open valve on the "compression stroke"

Alternate firing orders are pretty common place in race applications. It creates different loads on the crackshaft to create less friction thus leading to more horsepower.

to do it im assuming the cam would be completely custom. thanks for the knowledge yellow67
