This is just a guess,and I'm going out on a limb here but how about replacing the sensor?
Seriously, does the passenger side have the sensor? If so you can swap them since you most often drive alone. You'll just have to put up with it when there is a passenger in the car.
If not then I'm all out of suggestions short of pulling the bulb for the light. That or a small square of electrical tape!
