okay dumb question time....if I have normal bolt on performance parts would my choice of spark plug wire need to change to accomodate or does it not matter?
Also does the difference in mm really make a huge difference in spark plug wire and if so what how do I know what mm to get that will be most benifitial to my combo/set up?
I'm sure these questions have been asked before so I'm sorry if for some of you its a never ending cycle of retard questions ![[dance]](graemlins/dance.gif)

Not too sure for performance gains but a suggested preventative maintenance issue...its a must.

I love my taylor cut to fit wires.. never had a problem with wires melting on the headers like with stock wires.

Maybe I was unclear. I'm not looking for a performance "gain" from the wire but more of a wire that will be best compatible with my mods, or does having mods or lack there of even matter when it comes to spark wires?

The bigger the "mm/milimeters" a wire is the lower the electical resistance...Basically, the lower the resistance of a spark plug wire the stronger the spark....
Accel 300+, MSD, Taylor's are probably the best out there...
I have the Accel 300+'s, but I dont like them, cause they look like vacuum lines!! ![[Razz]](tongue.gif) ...I think that some nice blue Taylor's would look good on your car...I had Taylor's on my '86 and they cost something like $80.+, good wires arent cheap..
As far as plug wires performance gain, that will depend on how bad your stock wires are...You will also benefit from quicker engine starts and improved gas miledge...

Taylors hands down.
I've had them sitting on my turbo manifolds for a 2+ hour trip & they didn't even have a mark on them.
I just picked up a new custom set made for my turbo kit for $58 shipped.
They're also easily rebuildable if neccessary.

aftermarket "performance" ignition wires can cause problems on computer controled cars because the reduced resistance and increased voltage going through the plug wires can some times be picked up by the computer as an electrical signal and cause all kinds of strange drivabilty problems. Dispite what some people may tell You, will not gain any power by adding performance wires. I have had my 87 GT since new and it has all ways been run with Ford Motorcraft plug wires with out any problems. I vote for Ford Motorcraft plug wires!

I run Taylors too, they've been great. Even when they've accidentally come in contact with the headers.
I did have a set burn up last year though, it was very strange. 2 wires just disintegrated, with the boots still on the plugs. The wire material turned into a fine powder for several inches of length, no sign of it being heat damage. Possibly electrical? A mystery that was never solved.

Aren't all plug wires rebuildable? You simply slip off the boot with a little WD-40, cut off the "bad" section, and crip on the connector again. I can't count the number of times I "rebuilt" my Kragen's cheapy wires durring the 80,000+ miles I used them.

I burnt through 2 sets of fms wires at the boot because of my headers getting hot... Get taylor that is what I run now and you can get them in any color you want!!! You will thank me later...

The last time i bought the cheapy wires i installed them and they were acrching across the cap and causeing a miss fire. im a firm beilver in FMS and Taylor never had that problem.
