I am thinking about gettung some ET streets to lower my 60' times. Do I need to do anything to make the rearend or axles stronger? or are they already strong enough to take the stress. I won't be launching off the trans-brake higher then 3k.

With an automatic car you "should" be okay... but you never know with factory axels. Some break on 13 second cars, some break on 10 second cars. Its anyone's guess.

I thought I might be at just as great a risk because of the trans-brake. Maybe not?

It all depends on weather Ford gave you 13 second axels or 10 second ones Are you feeling lucky today?

It also depends what your converter stalls at. I would go ahead and get the slics and run em' untill the stock axels break.

stock axles seem to indefinitely live in the 1.7 to low 1.7x 60' range.
I busted a stock axle on (what would have been) my 4th 1.6x 60'

This would be a good time to sign up with AAA if you are not already a member.

Trans brake and slicks are going to defenately put a lot of stress on the whole rear end. looks like its time for you to start looking for a 31 spline setup.
